The Pitch Shot

The Pitch Shot

One of the most important parts of the game is Pitching, it is typically played anywhere between 30-120 yards. Distance can be controlled in various ways, the most commonly used would be feel. This great if you are blessed with an eye and touch for distance but for those that aren’t we’ve got you covered.

The technique that will take your pitching from 18 handicap to Tiger Woods over night is the clock system. Now picture a clock on a wall, simple by hitting positions on the clock face either with the club head or lead arm can be used! So start off by going to the driving range and feeling out a 9 o’clock golf swing this would also be known as lead arm parallel to the ground. You’ll soon start to notice that there will be a control of distance simply by length of backswing! Then work through a variety of different positions, such as 10, 11 etc. and you will begin to see how far each of these go.

By knowing exactly how far each of these positions go, when you then take it onto the course you will be so much for confident from each yardage, because you know the exact position you need to take the backswing too.

For a lot of players they refer to it as a half swing or full swing but being more specific on length of backswing only means that the distance will be much easier controlled! Give this a go and let us know how you get on!
